Listening to artists describe the emotional impact of other artists’ work on their own work is fascinating. This educational BBC video is a wonderful window into Louise Bourgeois’ work through the eyes of hot British contemporary artists. Tracey Emin is particularly eloquent on the subject of Louise Bourgeois.

Louise Bourgeois’ film, “the spider, the mistress and the tangerine” inspired me and a few artist friends to invade the outdoor court at the National Gallery Canada with baby spiders under “Maman”.( Fantastic film- where can I get a copy?).
The female spider is free, she sucks energy from what’s at home rather than being sucked dry herself. Inspiring!

I love your blog. You’ve got all of my style icons here: Zelda Kaplan, Iris Barrel Apfel, Lynn Yeager, and now Louise Bourgeois! I saw the recent ebhixit of her work at the Guggenheim and was inspired on so many levels. I am desperate to copy that sequined hat and fuzzy coat paradigm for this winter. If only I could be as diminutive and French as Madame Bourgeois.Thank you for all these inspirational photos. Thank you for introducing me to the wonders of Mimi Weddell, Anna Piaggi and Zandra Rhodes. And of course, I love Lucy with her flower and beret.
