Top 5: Carmel Weekend Getaway
By Lauren Dickinson
Close enough for a quick weekend getaway with the charm of a small town but the sophistication of an increasingly popular wine and food destination; Carmel and Carmel Valley are ideal spots for an Indian summer trip.
– Corkscrew Café in Carmel Valley- linger for a long lunch sampling locally produced Georis wines with homemade pâté or their famous quesadillas in the sunny back garden courtyard.
–Bubbly Fish Café– a perfect post shopping, pre dinner stop in Carmel at this wine bar that specializes in pairings with caviar
–Casanova– the ultimate romantic dinner spot- a rambling stone house with all kinds of hidden spots; do not miss the spinach gnocchi as a starter!
-Carmel Valley’s new Citronelle at Carmel Valley Ranch- try the chef’s table with a special menu developed by award winning Michel Richard
–Cypress Inn– if the fog rolls in early or just never clears, try the afternoon tea at Doris Day’s hotel (you can request to view one of her movies during tea!). A bonus is they not only allow dogs, but welcome them.
