Top 5: Antiquing on 1stDibs, Italian style

I can’t get enough of of the virtual antiquing opportunities on 1stDibs and frequently stay up into the wee hours, designing fantasy rooms with my new finds.  The beauty of it is that you can find the best selection of antiques from well-vetted dealers all over the world from the privacy of your home.  Here are five of my recent picks with a focus on Italian design:

1) Huge 4′ tall hand-painted Italian 1940’S globe on walnut stand, Italy, 1940’s, a handsome Italian 1940’S hand-painted and aqua-toned terrestrial globe with interior compartment on walnut stand with brass fittings.

2) Rare 18th century Italian armchair, Italy, 1750, Rare large scale carved and giltwood Italian open armchair. Circa 1750, Roman.

3) Vintage Italian Mirrored Table with Stars, Italy, Circa 1935,An Art Deco mirrored table with etched stars thoughout.

4) 1950s Murano Glass Chandelier, Italy, 1950s, Murano glass chandelier with six branches. Gold dust mixed into the glass paste.

5) A 20th Century Bronze Horse by Mario Marini, unsigned, Italy, 20th century, With an elongated neck in a galloping pose attached to a marble base, with original patina. Mario Marini was an Italian sculptor whose execution equestrian figures of the 1950’s influenced a whole generation of artists.
